Bayern Munich vs. Manchester City: Guardiola vs. Tuchel once again

Pep Guardiola is returning to his old club, Bayern Munich, for the first time since leaving in 2016. He was expected to face Julian Nagelsmann, but the German side recently sacked him and appointed Thomas Tuchel. The managers have met 10 times before, with Guardiola winning six and Tuchel three. In the FA Cup semi-final and Champions League final, Guardiola famously did not play a defensive midfielder in a tactical gamble that failed. However, City beat Tuchel's Chelsea twice in the Premier League last season, and with four wins and a draw in Germany, including the 2016 DFB-Pokal final, Guardiola actually has the better record. Guardiola has faced Barcelona four times since leaving, twice with City and twice with Bayern, and won two of those, but the other matches were 3-0 and 4-0 defeats.
