The ceasefire between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces entered into force on Tuesday, but the sounds of gunfire were heard in the capital Khartoum, resulting in a violation of the agreement. Residents said they still heard gunfire and explosions in different parts of Khartoum, particularly around the military’s headquarters and the Republican Palace. Atiya Abdulla Atiya of the Sudan Doctors’ Syndicate told the Associated Press that the fighting remains underway. The truce came into effect at 6 p.m. local time on the fourth day of heavy fighting.
