Think tank: Chinese'rent-a-womb' enterprise poses a threat to the US

April 22, 2023

(RT)

The Chinese-American "rent-a-womb" industry, in which aging Chinese couples draft fertile American women to give birth to offspring with US citizenship, is a national security risk, according to the Heritage Foundation. Emma Waters, a research associate with the foundation, described the system as a "big red flag" for Chinese infiltration into American life. No US laws require tracking of international surrogacy procedures by country, and many fertility clinics offer services in Mandarin. Surrogacy is illegal in China, and Waters suggested it was part of a Communist invasion. However, hundreds of Chinese babies are born to American women every year, a more expensive version of the "anchor baby" phenomenon.
