The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi has warned that the situation around Russia’s Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, which sits close to the frontline with Ukraine, is becoming increasingly dangerous. The IAEA team posted to oversee the plant is monitoring the evacuation from the nearby city of Energodar, which was announced on Friday. The plant’s director, Yury Chernichuk, said all reactors were shut down and the personnel were “doing everything to ensure nuclear safety.” Renat Karchaa, a top adviser at Rosenergoatom, told RT that Ukraine alone is not capable of such “terrorist” plots. He argued that the scenario and targets are chosen by their Western partners.
