China criticises the US for Taiwan

May 9, 2023

(RT)

China's Foreign Minister Qin Gang has reprimanded the US's envoy to Beijing for what he perceived as Washington's support for Taiwan, while also saying that his country would not agree to bolster communication lines without receiving political concessions from the White House first. Tensions have intensified between the US and China due to their respective stances regarding Taiwan, with Beijing viewing the island as a breakaway province and Washington providing its government with defensive weaponry. Qin suggested that the souring relationship was due to the US and its violations of Beijing's "red lines".
