White House rejects Covid "lab-leak" hypothesis

February 27, 2023

(RT) βΈ» The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that the US government believes the Covid-19 pandemic most likely originated in a Chinese laboratory. White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan has rejected the report, stating that there is "not a definitive answer" as to the true origins of the virus. The virus was first reported to have been discovered in Wuhan, the capital of China's Hubei province, and the FBI has also backed the lab-leak theory. Four other US agencies have determined that natural transmission was the more likely source of the virus, while two other agencies are currently undecided. Further studies are expected to take place in the US in the coming weeks and months, after several Republican lawmakers included investigations into the pandemic's origins among the key pledges on the campaign trail ahead of last November's midterm elections.
