February 5, 2023

(BBC) ⸻ Ukraine's new defence minister says Russia may launch an offensive in the Donbas region on 24 February. He has been replaced as defence minister by military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov. Ukraine has secured new long-range missiles with a range of 90-mile (150km), Defence Minister Vladimir Reznikov says. Troops will start training on German-made Leopard tanks from Monday, he adds. Russia's paramilitary mercenary group Wagner has led much of the fighting in the Bakhmut area.
