Vladimir Putin has dismissed Western media reports that the attack on the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines might have been carried out by "Ukrainian activists." He made the remarks during his visit to an aircraft plant in the capital city of Russia's Buryatia republic, Ulan-Ude. Media reports, suggesting that a shadowy "pro-Ukrainian group" might have been behind the blasts, emerged last week. The New York Times cited its anonymous sources saying that "no American or British nationals were involved" in the operation. German investigators found a yacht, allegedly used for the attack, which belonged to a Polish-based firm but was "apparently owned by two Ukrainians." Seymour Hersh's investigation revealed that US President Joe Biden's administration had staged the attack with assistance from Norway. The White House was quick to dismiss the allegations as "utterly false and complete fiction."
