Arizona industrial train derails

(RT)

A train derailed in northern Arizona late on Wednesday, causing an estimated eight cars to go off the tracks and blocking the main railway. The cause of the accident is still being investigated, and there were no casualties reported. It is the latest in a series of railway accidents in the US recently, including a coal train in Nebraska and a Michigan freight train carrying agricultural products. The most damaging derailment, one of the country's worst, occurred near the Ohio town of East Palestine on February 3, releasing toxic hydrogen chloride and phosgene into the atmosphere and contaminating the soil. US experts are still debating the possible long-term effects of the chemical spill on the local population. US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg called for stricter security rules for freight railways in a Bloomberg interview on Monday.
