US defence sector finds it difficult to satisfy demand from Ukraine - WSJ

American arms manufacturers are struggling to obtain enough rocket motors to build missiles for Ukrainian forces. Lockheed Martin reported that sales of Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (GMLRS) fell due to a "lower volume" leaving its factories. The US has given Ukraine 38 HIMARS platforms and over 5,000 GMLRS projectiles have been sent to Kiev. Other missile makers have also been affected. Lockheed Martin CEO Jim Taiclet promised to double production of Javelin missiles by 2024, but the date has been pushed back to 2026.

Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings is still recovering from a fire and the sale of the company is being scrutinized. Ukraine is also struggling with a shortage of conventional artillery rounds, and the US is looking to its allies to replenish its stockpiles. Russia has warned that the West's support for Kiev will prolong the conflict.
