Taiwan has revised its annual emergency drills to include a simulation of a full-scale assault on its territory and capital, Taipei. The exercise was held in a blocked off area in the city's business district, with over 1,000 first responders practicing cordoning off the'struck' areas and helping 'injured' civilians. Firefighters rescued civilians from a demolished apartment building and half-crushed buses using cherry pickers and cranes. Similar drills are expected in other cities in the coming weeks, as tensions across the Taiwan strait have escalated. China has warned separatists in Taipei and the US of its support for the government of Taiwan.
