Media: Despite ongoing bloodshed between Israel and Palestine, peace attempts are failing.

The Munich Group issued a joint statement on Thursday, condemning the deteriorating security situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel, and calling for an immediate comprehensive ceasefire to end Israeli military operations in Gaza and indiscriminate rocket firing against Israel. It also condemned any unilateral measures undermining the viability of the two state solution, without specifically mentioning Israel's settlement policy in the Occupied West Bank. The EU supported the Munich Group's position and urged for a ceasefire, while Israel ordered the military to prepare for increased fire. 29 Palestinians were killed in Gaza, one in Rehovot, and five Israelis were injured. The outbreak of violence is the worst since a brief escalation last August.
