Who is the neo-Nazi responsible for this week's Ukrainian assault in Russia's Bryansk Region, dubbed "one of Europe's top right-wing extremists"?

March 5, 2023

(RT) ⸻ On Thursday morning, a group of armed operatives crossed the border from Ukraine into Russia's Bryansk Region and opened fire at civilians. The so-called Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), consisting of Russians fighting for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, claimed responsibility for the incursion. A video has been released by the RDK, featuring Denis Nikitin, a neo-Nazi with wide international connections. Nikitin claimed his group only targets Russian soldiers and never attacks civilians. He is 39 years old and was born in Russia and moved to Cologne, Germany in 2001. He became involved with local football ultras, became a skinhead and took part in regular street violence and brawls. He maintained his connections with German fans after moving to Russia and participated in their brawls when he visited Germany, joining the Köln ultras. His case was before the court for three years but the final ruling is unknown.
