MPs have balked at a guide encouraging staffers to report "transphobic behavior" including "misgendering". The 15-page pamphlet instructs staff to "learn to identify what transphobic behavior looks like and understand that these must be met with an attitude of zero-tolerance." Sir Peter Bottomley acknowledged he had "some concern" with the guidance, but suggested some input from LGB Alliance. Kate Harris criticized the House of Commons' guidance on pronoun usage, calling it "the gateway drug towards unnecessary medicalization of gender non-conforming children". The British Civil Service has officially recognized over 100 genders and required staff to attend a lecture featuring guidance on the use of neo-pronouns.
